How To Make Tasty Pani Puri At Home In Some Easy Steps

Pani puri is a popular Indian street food that is enjoyed by people of all ages. It consists of small, crisp fried balls that are filled with a mixture of spices, potatoes, and chickpeas, and served with a flavorful water called "pani."

Here's a step-by-step recipe for making pani puri at home:

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup semolina flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup water
Oil, for deep frying
For the filling:

1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
1 cup boiled and mashed chickpeas
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro
1 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp red chili powder
Salt, to taste
For the pani:

2 cups water
1/2 cup tamarind pulp
1/4 cup mint leaves
1/4 cup cilantro leaves
2 green chilies
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp black salt
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions:

To make the puri, mix together the all-purpose flour, semolina flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl. Gradually add water and mix until the dough comes together. Knead the dough until it is smooth and pliable. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and set it aside to rest for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, make the filling by mixing together the potatoes, chickpeas, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, chaat masala, red chili powder, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.

To make the pani, blend together the water, tamarind pulp, mint leaves, cilantro leaves, green chilies, cumin seeds, chaat masala, black salt, red chili powder, and salt in a blender until smooth. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve and set aside.

Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball out into a thin circle. Cut out small circles using a cookie cutter or a glass.

Heat the oil in a deep fryer or a deep pan until it reaches 375°F. Carefully add a few of the puri circles to the hot oil and fry them until they are golden brown and puffed up, about 1-2 minutes. Remove the puri from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain them on a paper towel. Repeat with the remaining puri circles.

To assemble the pani puri, make a small hole in the center of each puri using your finger or a spoon. Fill each puri with a spoonful of the filling and top it with a spoonful of the pani. Serve the pani puri immediately, as they are best eaten fresh.

Enjoy your homemade pani puri!
